Best Waterpark Holidays in Spain (+top hotels with slides & pools)
Summer in Spain with kids
There’s no better person to assure you that Spain is full of family-friendly destinations and activities than someone who’s constantly traveling across the country with kids non-stop. From the nature of the Pyrenees to the exotic Canary Islands, there’s no shortage of ideas and experiences I’ve had in Spain with children.
However, planning a summer vacation in Spain with kids can sometimes be trickier than it seems, especially because of the high temperatures. Adding a water park to your holiday plans is a great way to keep everyone cool and entertained.
Based on our many family getaways in Spain, I’ve put together this list of vacation spots with water parks – perfect for families looking to combine fun at theme parks with cultural experiences and historical sights! Along with each water park, you’ll find a map of nearby hotels for all tastes, as well as a list of articles featuring nearby cultural sights and potential itineraries. This way, you won’t have to wonder what else to do in the area beyond the water park. Depending on the age of your children, I also suggest adding a few interesting landmarks, ensuring that your family vacation will be enjoyable for both parents and little ones, creating lasting memories together.

Hotels with Water Slides and Children’s Pools in Spain
The best hotels in Spain with water slides or at least relatively large pools for kids are mainly located in these areas: Catalonia (including both Costa Daurada and Costa Brava), Alicante (mostly near Benidorm), Mallorca, and Tenerife in the Canary Islands (with a large number of family-friendly resorts).
Nevertheless, there are also standout water parks across Spain where you can book accommodation nearby and combine an amusement park vacation with a sightseeing plan or a road trip. In this article, you’ll find my personal recommendations for popular hotels with slides for kids, as well as destinations with trendy water parks nearby.
Best Waterpark Holidays in Spain: Top Destinations for Families
Salou / PortAventura World and Caribe Aquatic Park
Best Water Parks in Tarragona (near Barcelona)
Salou is a small town in the region of Tarragona, along the road between Barcelona and Valencia. It’s a popular family destination thanks to its proximity to PortAventura World, one of Europe’s largest theme parks. You can read more about our last visit to the park in this post.
During the summer holidays in Spain, the most popular vacation spot in the area is Caribe Aquatic Park – an expansive water park that’s part of the PortAventura complex. In my opinion, it’s the best on the Iberian Peninsula in terms of constant renovations, water slides, wave pools, and water playgrounds for little ones.
This water park gets really busy during the summer months, as many travelers visit on day trips from Barcelona. However, last year we visited it during the first week of September (on the last weekend before schools in Spain start), and it was amazing – even though the water was starting to feel a bit chilly. I found that surprising, as September usually still feels like summer on the Mediterranean coast, but that particular week had a few cloudy days. On the other hand, there were no long lines for the slides, so we were able to try every ride we wanted within minutes.
For a more cultural experience in the same area, you can combine a visit to this Spanish water park with:

Best Tarragona Hotels with Pools
You can choose to stay in Salou near the water park (or in Cambrils, as we also did years ago). Also, PortAventura Complex offers on-site accommodation, which means you can easily jump from one adventure to the next. The whole entertainment complex of PortAventura World includes PortAventura Park, Ferrari Land, PortAventura Caribe Aquatic Park, and a few unique themed hotels: Hotel PortAventura, Hotel El Paso, Hotel Gold River, Hotel Mansión de Lucy, Hotel Colorado Creek, and Hotel Caribe.
If you don’t want to stay within the PortAventura resort but still want to visit it on a day trip, other great hotels in the Tarragona region with pools that kids will enjoy include H10 Mediterranean Village, Alannia Salou, La Siesta Salou Resort & Camping, and Palas Pineda.

Benidorm / Aqualandia and Mundomar
Best Water Parks in Benidorm
Benidorm and the famous Costa Blanca are another top destinations for families in Spain, synonymous with sun, sea, and sand. Its well-known theme park is Terra Mítica (Personally, we enjoyed PortAventura much more than Terra Mítica, even though I loved the concept of themed areas inspired by ancient cultures like Egypt and Greece. The thing is, PortAventura and its water park feel more modern and recently renovated.)
Nevertheless, Benidorm also boasts two of Spain’s most popular water parks: Aqualandia and Mundomar. These are often visited together – Mundomar is a marine animal park where you can see dolphins, sea lions, and exotic birds, making it a great addition to a day spent at Aqualandia. If I get the chance to visit again Terra Mítica, Aqualandia or Mundomar this summer, I’ll update this post – maybe there will be some exciting new additions or renovations this season.
For more cultural and sightseeing experiences in the area, you can combine Benidorm’s water parks with:
- One day in Alicante (read more)
- A day trip to Valencia (read more)
- A day trip to Gandía (read more)
- A day trip to Elche (read more)
- A weekend in Santa Pola (read more)
- 7 days in Alicante with kids, including a visit to Aitana Safari Park (read more)
Best Family Hotels with Pools and Waterslides in Benidorm and Alicante
A popular summer destination in the area is Magic Robin Hood, which features its own hotel and is known for its large multi-adventure and water park areas – perfect for families who want to stay right by the slides. Other hotels with pools for kids in Benidorm include Hotel Deloix Aqua Center, Hotel Rosamar Benidorm, Melia Benidorm, and Albir Garden Resort.
Keep in mind that Benidorm is one of the busiest destinations in all of Spain. So, if you want a slightly quieter option, you can also choose one of these popular hotels with pools in the Alicante region: Asia Gardens Hotel & Thai Spa, SH Villa Gadea, La Marina Resort, Hotel RH Ifach, or Alannia Costa Blanca.

Tenerife / Siam Park
Best Water Parks in Tenerife
Tenerife is one of the most versatile family-friendly destinations in the Spanish Canary Islands. It’s a year-round getaway blessed with sunny weather and stunning natural beauty, including Spain’s highest peak, Mount Teide.
One of its standout attractions is Siam Park, a Thai-themed water park that has received outstanding reviews and is often ranked among the best water parks in the world. Unfortunately, on my last family trip to Tenerife, my daughter was still too young to enjoy the park (and I was pregnant with our second child), so we decided to skip it – especially since we wouldn’t have been able to test the rides anyway! We did, however, get to visit the famous Loro Parque, which was a fun experience. I’m hoping we’ll return soon, as I have a feeling this incredible water park might become one of our family favorites.

Tenerife is known for its amazing selection of family-friendly hotels with great pools, such as Bahia Principe Fantasia, Gran Meliá Palacio de Isora Resort & Spa, Adrián Hoteles Roca Nivaria, Landmar Costa los Gigantes Family Resort, Spring Hotel Bitácora, Parque Santiago III, Hotel Best Jacaranda, and GF Victoria.

Costa Brava / Aquabrava Water Park
Best Water Parks in Costa Brava
Located just outside the picturesque town of Roses, Aquabrava Water Park in Costa Brava is one of the most popular water parks in Spain. In summer, it’s a favorite weekend getaway from Barcelona.
For our family, it’s still on the bucket list – as our last trip to Costa Brava took place in February, which isn’t water park season. Aquabrava is good for all ages, offering a wide range of attractions. Whether you’re looking to brave high-speed slides, float along lazy rivers, or splash around in the wave pool, there’s something for everyone.
In addition, if you’re traveling with older kids (usually 7+), Costa Brava is considered a great destination for kayaking in Spain. The region is also located on the route between Barcelona and the Pyrenees Mountain Range, making it a great option to combine with hiking adventures for active families.
Other water parks in Costa Brava – with slightly lower reviews – include Water World Parc, Aquadiver, and Marineland Catalunya.

Some of the most popular Costa Brava hotels with pools to enjoy with kids are: Golden Taurus Aquapark Resort, L’Azure Hotel, Hotel Rosamar Garden Resort, and Hotel Best Lloret Splash.

Valencia or Benicassim / Aquarama
Best Water Parks near Valencia
Located along the stunning Costa Azahar in the province of Castellón, Benicàssim is known for its beautiful beaches and lively atmosphere. Its water park, Aquarama, may not attract as many international travelers, but it is highly popular among Spaniards. As Benicàssim is located close to Valencia (about 50 minutes to 1 hour by car), it’s a popular day trip destination during the summer months and can easily be combined with numerous Valencia itineraries.
While we’ve visited Aquarama several times (since my kids enjoy it and it’s the closest water park to our home), I wouldn’t say it’s my personal favorite. Compared to PortAventura Caribe, the facilities and slides are older. Still, for those planning to visit Valencia with kids, it’s a viable option.
Additionally, close to Valencia, you’ll find Aquópolis in Cullera. However, I haven’t personally visited, as it has much lower reviews than Aquarama, and I didn’t feel it was worth risking a visit only to be disappointed. For more travel ideas and plans in the same area, you can combine Aquarama with many of the attractions listed under the #Valencia hashtag on the blog:

- Visiting Morella Castle and Unique Sexenni Festival (read more)

Best Family Hotels with Pools near Valencia
Benicàssim mostly has smaller hotels and holiday appartments (though its beach is great for kids), the pool at its most popular hotel, Palasiet, might not be ideal for little ones. Valencia has several popular hotels and appartments for family travelers with pools (though not slides), such as Las Arenas Balneario Resort and Patacona Resort Apartments. Also, in Gandia there is a popular hotel with slides – Hotel RH Bayren Parc.

Mallorca / Western Park
Best Water Parks in Mallorca
The island of Mallorca, located in the Mediterranean, is another popular destination for family travelers in Spain. The island’s most popular water park is Western Park, inspired by a Wild West theme. During our last two visits to Mallorca with the kids, we didn’t get the chance to check it out. However, since we enjoyed the Wild West-themed parks in Almería, I think combining that western vibe with water slides could make for a fun experience. I’ll update this post once we visit Mallorca again and have the chance to check it out.
The island also has other water parks, but they have lower reviews, so I’m not sure I’d give them a try myself – Aqualand S’Arenal and Hidropark Alcúdia.
Best Family Hotels with Pools and Waterslides in Mallorca
Mallorca is known for a few trendy family-focused hotels: Zafiro Can Picafort, Sol Katmandu Park & Resort, Zafiro Tropic, Iberostar Pinos Park, Sol Wave House, Mar Hotels Playa, Iberostar Club Cala Barca All Inclusive, PortBlue Club Pollentia Resort & Spa, VIVA Blue & Spa, and Blau Punta Reina. Most of these hotels have cute pools with slides for the kids.

Having a great pool to use was such a key part of our hotel selection when the kids were younger, even if there was a wonderful and kid-friendly beach around. These look like fun choices to explore.
Even without small kids, we still love visiting water parks. Good to know there are some good options in Spain for summer vacation spots. Fun when there are other kid-friendly spots close by like marine animal parks!
WOW are these impressive! They look so much calmer and more dignified than what we have in the USA! I especially want to explore Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife!!! Dream post- thanks for sharing
the idea of combining beach time with water park adventures in places like Costa Brava and Benidorm is perfect!!!
