After 10 years of extensive travels across Spain, I´ve put together a list of the most beautiful flower fields and blooms to experience a little splash of colors. While most of these represent spring, note that lavender and sunflowers have their peak season in summer. Nevertheless, I just couldn´t ignore them on the list of Spanish flower settings.
So where can you find the prettiest flowers in Spain?
Flowers in Spain: The Prettiest Flower Settings
1. Cherry Blossoms
Cherry blossoms are the most popular spring symbols across the globe. From late March till early April you can enjoy them at the Valle del Jerte area in Caceres, the Province of Extremadura. There´s even a cherry blossom festival called “Fiesta del Cerezo en Flor” where you can experience local gastronomy, thematic events, and epic views of 1.5 million cherry trees at the peak of their beauty.
If you decide to undergo a drive through the cherry blossoms of Valle del Jerte, your main stops should be the villages of Valdastillas, Piornal, Barrado, Cabrero, Casas del Castañar, El Torno, and Rebollar. The route is only 50 kilometers long, but it´s definitely worth experiencing at least once.

Alternatively, you can find cherry tree plantations in Torres (Jaen, Andalusia) and La Salzadella (Castellon, Valencian Community). The last one also houses a fair called “Feria de La Cereza Arte y Tradicion“, where you can find local artisan products, recently- picked cherries and taste special Cherry Menu ( like the one I´ve shared on my Hazelnut Gastronomic Weeks post, but with cherries being the star-ingredient).
The cherry fair of Salzadella is absolutely unknown internationally, although it attracts a lot of Spanish visitors from the Valencia Province. If you decide to go – make sure to visit earlier in the morning to find a parking spot (you´ll be leaving your car in the nearby fields, as the village will be blocked). The official website of Sazadella town usually announces the program of the Fair with all the events, shows, and restaurants with Cherry Menu. Unfortunately, their website is only in Spanish and Valencian.

If you like pink blossoms don´t miss Peach trees of Cieza in Murcia (around March).
2. Yellow Rapeseed Fields
You might have seen those epic yellow rapeseed fields across Europe. Germany, France, Italy, England – everything is covered with this magical yellow blanket from April till May. In my case, this picture was taken in April during my trip to Ibiza, one of the best Spanish islands.
In Spain, yellow rapeseed fields are also typical within the rural landscapes of Castile-Leon, Catalonia, and the Valencian Community.

3. Poppy Fields
While talking about flowers in Spain we cannot forget poppies. You will find them from April till May near Toledo and along the Don Quijote Route in the Castile-La Mancha province. A beautiful location to enjoy the poppy fields is the small Spanish town of Montalban. Besides relishing the prettiest orange-red flowers in Spain, you can also spot an ancient fortress from the times of the Spanish Reconquista on the backdrop.

4. Sunflower fields
The most sun-kissed flowers in Spain are definitely sunflowers. One of the popular locations to get a glimpse of the endless sunflower fields is in La Bureba / Burgos. After you visit the Burgos Cathedral, one of the most beautiful cathedrals in Spain, you can enjoy a drive from Briviesca to Poza de la Sal in search of the sunflower fields.

Additionally, the vast majority of sunflowers in Spain can be found in Castille-La Manca and Andalusia (for ex. Antequera or Carmona), in the summer months of June and July.

5. Almond Trees in blossom
If you love Spanish food, you might have realized that almonds often form part of many local dishes. No wonder you can find plenty of almond trees across the whole country. Spain is the second-largest producer of almonds in the whole world. Therefore, you have lots of epic locations to welcome spring, surrounded by the almond blossoms.

If you want to enjoy the almond blossoms without a drive to the countryside – check Quinta de los Molinos Park in Madrid (normally mid to late February).
If you plan to visit the Canary Islands, don´t miss “Fiesta del Almendro en Flor” in Tejada near Las Palmas (from the end of January to the beginning of February).
6. Lavender fields

Lavender was one of the most unexpected flowers in Spain for me. Despite a popular cliche, lavender fields are no longer an exclusive attribute of the French region of Provence. There are quite a few locations to enjoy a marvelous lavender smell in Spain around July: Brihuega (Guadalajara), El Bierzo (Castille-Leon), Ossa de Montiel (Albacete) and Moratalla (Murcia).
For more details and locations check this post.
7. Wildflower fields
In case you’re still dreaming of the colorful flowers in Spain, but missed the cherry blossoms or the sunflowers due to their seasonability, google the nearest hike in the Spanish countryside (Spring-Summer-early Autumn) and enjoy some wildflowers along the way.

Ah yes, such beautiful flowers in the spring. Your photos are stunning! This really is a beautiful time of year. I’m sad when the early blooms fall and go green!
Those are really lovely shots. They make me so impatient for spring to really get here for real. I love the blooms!
Such beautiful flower fields, these picture are breathtaking.
I have always associated cherry blossom trees with Japan, so it’s cool that Spain is also known for them. The Fiesta del Cerezo en Flor sounds like a really fun event to celebrate them. I also didn’t know that Spain is a big producer of almonds. The sunflowers in Burgos were my favorite from the list. What a cool photo!
Oh the Peach trees looks amazing!
But do you sunflowers blossom during spring? Ours in Sweden does not blossom until late august 🙂
Amazing spring flowers!! That would be so cool to visit Spain someday.
I never thought that Spain is also known for cherry blossoms. I only know Japan. Now, I have more reasons to go to Spain someday. <3
