Let´s talk about my current favorites for breakfast in Madrid. You might have already heard that Madrid´s foodie arena is quite epic, so every time I get a chance to visit the city it´s just another perfect excuse to set off on a fresh avocado-toast hunt and keep discovering new favorite spots on the go.

Where to Find a Delicious Breakfast in Madrid

Eating in Madrid

My trips to Madrid

While I repeatedly say that Madrid is one of my favorite Spanish destinations, due to the pandemic, I haven’t visited the Spanish capital for a few years (except for our 7-day Madrid Road Trip Itinerary, but we did not stop in the city). So, while wrapping up my one-day and weekend-long itineraries, I have realized how much the breakfast in Madrid scene has changed over the past few years.

While I have already lost count of my numerous trips to the Spanish capital, almost none of the places I used to visit 5 years ago is popular (or even exists) these days.

I should admit that this fact felt quite disappointing at first, but then I realized there are some perks in starting with a blank page. It was just about the time to rediscover my passion for Madrid from scratch.

Foodie in Madrid

Foodie adventures form a huge part of my non-stop travels in Spain, so there is no way one of my favorite cities could ever stay out. With my recent cooking class, I have literally opened a new chapter of my Madrid content. So let´s start with my favorite spots for breakfast in Madrid. Lately, avocado toast has turned into the unmissable attribute of starting my day on the right foot. So, while searching for new breakfast spots in Madrid it definitely the criteria.

In this article, I will initially share the cute cafes from my recent 3-day itinerary in Madrid, but will keep updating the post with new spots (since I am already planning to return to Madrid soon).

My Favorite Spots & Avocado Toasts in Madrid

To begin with, I started discovering new spots for breakfast in Madrid with a few lesser-known locations.

Mainly because I was visiting Madrid during a weekend (in June, which was almost the peak season for international travel). Plus, I had a busy schedule full of lesser-known Madrid museums, and I could not deal with popular places (where one might need to wait to be served). Yet, I felt like grabbing a coffee to go would be extremely upsetting ( while being surrounded by all those Madrid cafes & avocado toasts). Especially, since a traditional breakfast in Valencia looks so different that I have missed those international bites.

Gosto Cafe (check out the location)

My first stop for breakfast in Madrid was Gosto Cafe, where I got a matcha latte with perfect avocado toast. The last one was so good with all the crunchy almonds on the top. I have also quite enjoyed the design of this cafe.

Subrosa Cafe (check out the location)

Before heading to my cooking class, I enjoyed a delish breakfast at Subrosa Cafe. The main twist of the avocado toast was the sour touch of berries and micro-greens (both are some of my healthy favorites at home).

GreenCoffees (check out the location)

While I was initially heading to the popular place for breakfast in Madrid, Salon des Freurs, that location was closed. So, I have spontaneously ended up at GreenCoffees. I usually prefer savory breakfast to sweet alternatives, but Salon des Freurs got my attention with its cute interiors. Anyway, this time stars did not align for us, yet GreenCoffees was a pleasant surprise on the go. Since there were only a few visitors inside, it felt so cozy. Plus, I have really enjoyed their avocado toast with egg on the top.

Delish Vegan Donuts (check out the location)

While exploring the lesser-known museums of Madrid, I accidentally discovered Delish Vegan Donuts. This place is known for its vegan-friendly bakery, creative donuts, and croissant rolls. I could not resist and bought a pistachio cherry croissant with a lavender latte to go – both were really good.
