Mediterranean Garden in Spain
Mediterranean Garden Inspiration
Spanish Mediterranean Gardens
While Spanish Mediterranean Gardens are known for the combination of rustic elegance and laid-back coastal vibes, Jardi De L´Albarda is one of the most unique outdoor spaces I have visited on the Iberian Peninsula.
Visiting Jardi de L´Albarda
Ever since I published an article on the Most Beautiful Gardens in Spain, I wanted to create a separate post for Jardi de L´Albarda in Pedreguer / the Alicante Region. I got to visit this beautiful Mediterranean garden in Spain on the way to Denia´s Port (where I was supposed to take a boat for the island of Formentera).
However, Jardi de L´Albard can be an easy stop on any Valencia to Alicante road trip, one-week itinerary in Costa Blanca, or a day trip from the city of Alicante.
About Jardi de L´Albarda
Jardi De L´Albarda looked absolutely magical in November. So, it gave me some serious wanderlust to visit this beautiful Mediterranean garden during the other seasons too.
Besides the traditional Mediterranean elements, Jardín de L’Albarda partially aims to recreate the ancient Renaissance gardens of the Valencian Community, widely influenced by the Arab era on the Iberian Peninsula. This beautiful natural setting covers an area of 50000 m2 and boasts more than 700 plant species, as well as an extensive collection of roses and palm trees.
The buildings at Jardi De L´Albardawere seamlessly integrated with the Costa Blanca´s nature. All the herbs and layouts felt so organic, while occasional ornamental details added a true sense of charm.
On top of that, since we visited during the low season in November, there were almost no visitors around. So, the whole place felt like a real-life fairytale. The fountains and ponds added serenity, and the gravel paths somehow created a sense of journey.
This place has actually made me realize once again that you do not always need to set off somewhere far away to find some real gems.
No need to mention, that I usually visit gardens in Spain with the App PictureThis to scan the plans, so that I can find them later on and plant the favorites in my own garden.
