Beauty Blog / My Hair Secrets
Short and long haircuts, hair loss, greasy hair, dry ends, dying blond and then going back to brunette… Yes, I´ve had it all! So, here you have my own simple guidelines for haircare and I really hope they can help out anyone else.
My personal haircare rules:
1. Don´t wash your hair every day
There was a time I´d wash my hair nearly every day. Therefore, an obvious result – vicious cycle: the more often you wash it, the faster it gets greasy. But keep in mind that leaving it greasy for weeks makes hair bulb to fall out easier. So find your own balance. I do it twice a week, mostly after working out.
Beauty blossoms from the inside. No secret, that eating healthy and drinking a lot of water is extremely important if you want to look good. In my case, eating a lot of “green” – lettuce, spinach etc. works great for my hair. I´ve also included more nuts and fish to my menu and have been noticing great results ever since.
3. Natural hair masks
Find time for organic homemade hair masks, a great way to nourish your scalp and hair roots. My top 3 choices:
- one of these or mix of various: avocado, grapes, honey, coconut oil (endings), apple cider vinegar, yolk
- for hair growth: mustard powder+ luquid vitamin A+ liquid vitamin E+honey+olive oil (I do apply it mostly on the scalp, while mixing a couple of drops/each vitamin, 1-2 tablespoons of honey and olive oil, teaspoon of mustard powder (Warning! careful with mustard, to avoid dryness and irritation – test a bit on your inner wrist first)
- honey+ basic oil (olive, coconut, almond etc.)+ few (2-3) drops of essential oil (favorites: rosemary, lavender, sandalwood)
Note: I´ve also tried garlic and onion hair masks, couldn´t get reed of a smell for weeks. The effect was good, but honestly, not worth it for me. The best natural product for dry endings is a raw coconut oil.
4. Contrast shower and scalp massage never hurts
While washing my hair I change the water temperature from time to time. I also do a bit of massage (whenever I get a moment), normally while using hair conditioner or applying a hair mask.
5. Additional obvious tips
Don’t sleep with wept hair and avoid a hair dryer, whenever you can.

On hair loss:
It happened to me a couple of years ago. Typical reason: stress. So, I immediately went to visit a doctor: there might be multiple reasons to a simple hair loss. I was suggested – vitamins (of random choice from Pharmacy) and spray Neoptide (Ducray). Honestly, I didn’t see the magical results immediately, but noticed some improvements after 2 moths. I also took Multicentrum vitamins for a while and noticed slightly better results than with vitamins for hair only. Fish oil/Omega3 capsules were also helpful. But I do not take vitamins on a regular basis and prefer eating foods rich on vitamins.
On hair products:
I like mostly everything from Biostetique. Wella SP Luxeoil products give my hair a nice glow. Moreover, I also use some selective products from different brands: restorative mask by Moroccan oil, Touche Perfection and Serum Initialiste by Kerastase, and Elasticate Strengthening Shampoo by Bad Hair (I adore the smell of their products). I do buy eventually hair masks from Lush, Kiehls and love testing eco stuff. I think changing brands and hair treatments every once in a while has beneficial effects.
